I am just recently off of the stage from the Hollywood Fringe Festival and I have to say I loved every moment of it. It was one of those magical shows where the cast, director, writer, and production company all love each other and the work comes together like magic. What a rush.
Hollywood Fringe in and of itself was an experience. A show usually doesn't get much rehearsal time in the space and our show (In the Basement) was the rule rather than the exception. The first time we ever ran our show in the space with the crazy stairs was dress rehearsal. (I've never been so nervous about wearing heels in my life!) Another magic theater moment, because that show took off immediately.
It wasn't all fairy tale though, halfway through the run Emily (playing my older sister Claire) broke her ankle while in NY. I swear I didn't push her down those stairs. ;) She was a fighter though and went up and down that staircase every night until we closed!
I will always be grateful to have been a part of this cast. It's a nice feeling to look back at a run of a show and know that every single performance was stellar. A big thanks to John Coppola and Studio C Artists as well as Phillip Pruit, Emily Button and the talented writer Jonuel Pozo.
